How to Become a Licensed Spiritual Healer
Second Nature Healing® has been offering high quality education and materials utilizing energy healing techniques developed by Second Nature Healing® Founder, Rosemary Levesque, since 2006 to help you begin your spiritual journey. Through the hundreds of students, clients, and colleagues seeking natural healing methods that are effective, safe, and unique, we’ve benefitted greatly from coming together as a community of Lightworkers to affect change in the world.
It was a revelation to Rosemary to learn years ago that certain state regulations seek to control and limit healing techniques to come under the umbrella of medical jurisdiction. For example, consider that Reiki could only be offered (for pay) by a licensed massage therapist (LMT), a licensed medical professional (doctor, nurse, etc.), or an ordained minister . . . none of which actually fit the philosophies of Reiki as a spiritual healing practice. In addition, shamanic practices offer perhaps the deepest connection to spirituality through Earth and Sky wisdom, The Directions, Nature, Animals, Plants, Crystals, and Celestial Beings – asking us to remember our Wholeness, as well as our function in being ONE with the WHOLE, the I AM.
We support shamanic and ancestral wisdom, remembering, and the manifestation of soul contracts as valid teachers. We identify with the integration of healing practices and techniques that allow the body, mind, spirit, and soul to heal on all levels, throughout all time. We open the doors to innate knowing for the greatest and highest good as we continue to grow into the highest version of self.
In an attempt to help protect and support our students and clients, Second Nature Healing® has sought ways in which practitioners not only gain confidence, but have the highest standards for practicing and receiving Divine wisdom, supported with coaching skills, scientific foundational knowledge, and training in Professional Practices, Consent, and Ethics.
Ultimately, we see a need to offer optional licensing and certifications to our practitioners to enable them to be of better service to their clients and to keep them in compliance with emerging laws governing natural therapies.
Why Become a Licensed Spiritual Healer?
You may want to consider the following questions to see if certification or licensing applies to you:
- Do you have a natural therapies practice?
- Do you offer spiritual healing techniques to your clients?
- Are you certified in these techniques by a recognized and approved educator or organization?
- Do you belong to an association that provides you with insurance and other support for your practice?
- Do you have questions about your rights and limits . . . or need information about how best to run your natural therapies business?
- Do you use a disclaimer form instead of the new Informed Consent Form?
- Are you aware there are words you cannot use and statements, although true, you cannot safely and ethically say to clients?
We invite you to take a look at what we offer and decide for yourself what works for your life, your clients, and your goals.
What’s the Difference Between Licensing and Certification?
Licensing
A license indicates that you have completed the requirements set by a board and that you can practice your healing work within the scope of practice defined by the license. If the state licenses the technique you offer, you must get and maintain the state license. If the state does NOT license the technique you offer, then you can be licensed as a Spiritual Healer if:
- You believe that divine healing either comes through you to your client or you are assisting the client in activating the divine healing within them.
- The spiritual healing skills and technique(s) you offer are listed on Federation of Spiritual Healers Licensing Board (FSHLB)
- You are certified in your healing techniques (if certification is offered)
In some cases, a person may hold more than one license: one from the state (as a nurse for example) and another one as a Spiritual Healer for the techniques that are not within the licensed nurse scope of practice. As a Licensed Spiritual Healer, you can offer your healing techniques to assist your clients to activate the inherent healer within them.
Certification
If the state licenses or certifies the healing session technique you offer, then you must get the state license completing any spiritual healing courses that they require. If the state does not issue a license for your healing technique, then independent boards or approved educators may certify individuals in those techniques. A certification board or approved educator with FSHLB issues certifications based on the Department of Education blueprints and other guidelines set by their insurance company. If certification is available in a healing technique, it’s advisable to get that certification. Through Second Nature Healing® we offer the training necessary toward certification as an Integrative Spiritual Healing Practitioner, Coach, Master, and Master Teacher. Through FSHLB as well as Spiritual Healer Professional Learning Institute (SHPLI), you can train and apply for status as a Licensed Spiritual Healer.
As you journey along the Second Nature Healing® Certification Pathway you will complete all courses necessary to be licensed as a Spiritual Healer if you choose. Each course is offered independently of the Certification Pathway toward licensing as enrichment courses for spiritual enhancement and enlightenment with integrative techniques.
