Choices for Success

It's been a few years since I've played golf, but the concepts for a good game can be applied to almost everything. That includes my personal health, and helping people with their health, or even growing financial stability in their health-related business. For me, of course, it's all about helping you.

Back to golf . . . how does golf relate at all to that I'm talking about? Well, if you've ever played, you'll know there's a lot to be said about everything that leads up to the moment of addressing the ball, as well as what happens after you hit the ball. You see, hitting the ball is just ONE moment in the entire game. it matters. It counts. But it's not the whole story.

I remember one such moment. It was a casual night-golf game, scramble-style. One of my teammates was off on an adjacent fairway, practicing her short game. I'd consider her a serious golfer. I was not! I was in it for the fun and casual time with my husband's favorite sport. When it came time for my turn, I addressed the ball. I had to hit it over the creek in one shot, or take a shorter shot to set up for the next person.

Breathing slowly and calmly, I felt grounded and connected to the club, my stance was even, and footing felt good. I have a sense of muscle memory when it comes to certain situations. I know how to BE in the moment. But just as the teammate returned, I shagged the ball. It went sideways instead of straight. Of course, I was disappointed, but only a little. My teammate shouted, "What was your plan?" She was more than disappointed and it showed.

On one hand, she was right. I didn't have a plan. I trusted my instincts and practice to go for the long shot. I could have easily made it any other time, I felt. What happened?

The truth is that, though we may be focused and on-target most of the time, stuff happens. We get to have wins that keep us coming back.

In golf, as well as in life and in business, it's good to have a plan. However, I think it's even more important to have beliefs that help move you forward and through any situation that may feel challenging. It's the follow THROUGH that matters.

  • Do you make decisions, and then forget about them?
  • Do you want to help people, but leave them hangin'?
  • Do you love the products you found, but don't feel confident to share the science of how they work?

What we're talking about is NEXT STEPS. In fact, I've developed a MASTER CLASS on NEXT STEPS. Let's talk about it on this week's Heart to Heart Training.
