How to Become a Licensed Spiritual Healer
Your interest in spiritual healing may begin with Reiki, energy work, sound, shamanic practices, or simply a desire to understand more about your own ability to heal. As you learn, your skills grow. Your intuition develops. You begin to understand how different healing practices work together—and how you want to use your own gifts.
Your training can grow with you.
You can begin with Shamanic Reiki I&II and continue into practitioner certification, coaching, Reiki Master training, teaching, and advanced integrative healing. Along the way, you’ll practice what you learn, work with other students, participate in hands-on training and practicums, and demonstrate your proficiency as your skills develop.
If you want to practice professionally, you can follow the Integrative Spiritual Healing Program certification pathway toward becoming a Licensed Spiritual Healer through the Federation of Spiritual Healers Licensing Board (FSHLB). Your Second Nature Healing® courses provide the approved healing curriculum, while additional professional coursework in anatomy and physiology, professional practices, ethics, informed consent, and spiritual coaching is completed through the Spiritual Healer Professional Learning Institute.
You get to decide how far you want to go. Take a course for your own personal and spiritual growth. Become a certified practitioner. Add these skills to the work you already do. Or continue along the complete pathway toward licensing. The training is designed to give you room to discover your way of doing this work.
Why Become a Licensed Spiritual Healer?

What’s the Difference Between Licensing and Certification?
Certification
Certification recognizes the education and training you’ve completed in a particular healing practice.
Through Second Nature Healing®, you can earn certifications as you progress through the Integrative Spiritual Healing Program. Your training begins with Shamanic Reiki and can continue through practitioner, coaching, Master, teacher, and advanced integrative levels. Each level builds on what you’ve already learned and includes requirements for demonstrating your knowledge and skills.
Certification tells your clients—and you—that you’ve completed a defined course of study and demonstrated proficiency in the work you’ve learned.
Licensing
Licensing addresses your ability to offer spiritual healing professionally within an established scope of practice.
If the healing technique you offer is regulated by your state, you follow the licensing requirements for that profession. For spiritual healing techniques that are not licensed by the state, the Federation of Spiritual Healers Licensing Board (FSHLB) provides a pathway to become a Licensed Spiritual Healer.
Your pathway brings together your healing education with the professional knowledge you need to work with clients. In addition to your Second Nature Healing® curriculum, you’ll complete training in anatomy and physiology, professional practices, ethics, informed consent, and spiritual coaching through the Spiritual Healer Professional Learning Institute. Your pathway also includes practical experience as you develop your work with clients.
You may also hold another professional license—a nurse or massage therapist, for example—and use your spiritual healing license for techniques that fall outside the scope of that professional license.
How Do They Work Together?
Think of certification as what you’ve learned and demonstrated proficiency in. Licensing provides the professional framework in which you practice spiritual healing.
Your training can lead to both.
Training in the Licensed Spiritual Healer Pathway
Your training begins with a foundation in Shamanic Reiki and grows as your skills and interests develop. Reiki, shamanic practices, intuitive work, sound and vibration, coaching skills, and advanced healing techniques begin to come together rather than remain separate modalities.
Sound healing becomes an important part of that integration. Tuning forks are easy to buy. Knowing how to work with them is something else.
You’ll learn sound healing techniques within the Illuminated Healer courses using the Magic & Miracles and Wounded Healer tools I’ve developed for my own integrative work. The goal is to understand more than which fork to use. You’ll learn to listen, observe, work with vibration, and integrate sound with the other healing skills you’re developing.
As your experience grows, you begin to discover how all of these tools can come together in your own way of working with people.
