What’s Possible When Starting a New Life

A Healthy Beginning Starts with a Healthy Foundation

Last week, our family welcomed a newborn boy, a little miracle into the world. He decided he was ready to meet us about a month early. Like every family with a premature baby, we held highest hopes for the best possible outcome. What came along as an emergency for my daughter, evolved into surrendering to great care and capable hands for the moments leading up to birth - the C-section, neonatal care, and incredible staff at perhaps Oregon's best hospital, OHSU. What's possible became more likely, and it's what I want to express today in this article.

And then . . . he did beautifully. Each tiny hand. Every yawn. Every stretch. There was no need for NICU, and perhaps that's surprising for a baby born so early. According to statistics, almost all babies born at 32 weeks require intensive care for lung or feeding concerns. As I embraced this tiny grandbaby, I noticed chubby cheeks, good skin tone, strong reflexes and early awareness with an attempt to open his eyes. It might sound like typical grandmother bragging, but biologically, I can't help but attribute such a stunning outcome at least in part to a healthy lifestyle and 20 years of good choices.

One of the choices my daughter made long before her pregnancy was supporting her own wellness. She's been using Cell Defender for nearly twenty years as part of her healthy lifestyle. During her pregnancy, she continued making thoughtful choices about nutrition, hydration, fiber, and supporting her body. When the baby was born, I brought Cell Defender to the hospital so he could have his first drop when it mattered most.

Every new day reminds me that the human body begins life with an incredible blueprint. What's possible depends largely on the choices made every day. Imagine a new life beginning - before birth - with prevention in mind. The blueprint's perfect. The outcome can come into alignment with perfection through daily choices that matter. What's possible is health and wellness, growth, development, ease and grace.

That's one of the reasons I'm creating the What's Possible?  series as part of my Saturday Live With Vitality Wellness Chats. Together we'll explore the remarkable ways the body is designed to function, what can interfere with those natural processes, and the everyday choices that help create an environment where wellness can thrive.
