Spiritual Mastery and Healing

What Does Making Jam Have To Do With Spiritual Mastery?

20190808_154651_2At first glance, you might think there’s little correlation. Yet, as a Master Teacher and Licensed Spiritual Teacher, I know my healing craft very well – and am always learning BECAUSE I’m ALWAYS DO-ing. However, today I had one of those ah-ha moments – a revelation I had to tell you about right away . . . and it starts with jam.

It’s August and here in Portland, Oregon, ripe fruit just drips off the branches, casting sweet aromas into the air that say, “Come pick me.” It all started with the plums. The tree on my walk with Gracie offered deep purple, un-split, firm goodness among the splattered over-ripe fruit on the ground. The extra bag in my pocket easily carried six or so juicy fruits which I promptly cleaned and cut at home. It wasn’t enough for a batch of jam, so on the following day, my husband and I picked blackberries from vines growing wild on a quiet road. Jam is my “jam”. I like to prepare and blend various fruits for new and delicious flavors, but it’s been a few years – four years to be precise – since I’ve last made jam. I know this because I have a few small jars left from the last time in 2015, and I’ve deliberately cut back on eating sugar as much as I used to – like in jam or ice cream. But I couldn’t resist the fruit and the memories of a time-honored process I enjoyed when my mother made jam, or when I concocted new flavor blends in the kitchen with my kids.

I Felt Like a Beginner

It was like starting over. Almost everything seemed to go wrong. I had the right equipment, but the wrong timing. The jam was completely boiled long before the jars were sterilized. When I filled the jars, I forgot the funnel to keep the edges of the jars clean. Hot jam spilled onto the cloths covering my counter top, and I burned my hand on the hot ladle.

That’s when I thought about my Reiki students as beginners, just starting out after taking a Reiki class. I love that the energy of Reiki is always good, intelligent, and knows where to go or what to do for healing. The practitioner who’s just doing sessions or practicing for the first few times may feel hesitant or unsure, but confident that the Reiki energy is GOOD. The fruit in my jam is always good, too, but as I go through the process of remembering how to make jam, I have a better understanding and recall a time when I was also a beginner Reiki practitioner.

What Does It Take To Be A Master?

Just like in making jam, practice is a good teacher. I already know the basics of making jam – sterilize the jars, follow directions, measure exactly, and have the right equipment. Yet it’s the nuances that make perfection. Timing and order of steps, for example, were big factors for me today. When practicing Reiki, intuitive placement of hands and how long to stay in each position may be at the top of the list for new practitioners. It’s also part of developing Spiritual Mastery.

I’ll never make jam every day – and maybe not every year like I used to. However, I’ll practice Reiki every day. I’ll DO healing work, choose intentions, meditate, and listen to and follow guidance.  I’ll also realize that when things go wrong, there’s a lesson to be learned and shared. Today I was reminded of the feeling of beginning again, of letting a practice go un-done for too long, and how, even if I mess up, the fruit of Spirit (and of the vine) is ALWAYS GOOD.

Spiritual Leadership with Reiki

I was asked recently what it means to be a leader. As a spiritual leader, Reiki Master, Shaman, and a spiritual healer, I have little time to ponder leadership, except to say that “I Am”. From the perspective of a person in business, self-employed, teaching Reiki classes and doing private sessions, it really is important to have a handle on technology. I update my own websites (yes, I have more than one), write my own blog articles, and research and invest in supplements and products my clients need for healing and recovery. For example, I now carry InLight Medical infrared light pads after researching and using light therapy pads for approximately two years.

Returning to the concept of leadership, I like to go back to the fundamentals of Reiki and shamanism. These fundamentals set the framework for everything else I do. Before even getting out of bed, I activate my palms with Reiki symbols and balance my chakras with Reiki and a short meditation. At the start of my day, my shower includes a blessing of water flowing over me with intentions of washing away what no longer serves me. I anoint myself with essential oils on my feet holding intentions of receiving (on the left foot) and offering (on the right foot) in a ritualistic fashion. My morning continues with blessing my food and watering my plants (also with a blessing). Reading the comics is a priority over news. Walking the dog is a priority over work. Silence is a priority over music and television.

You may ask how these fundamentals make me a leader. It really depends on who and what you’re leading – and not leading. I’m not leading any fights, wars, or injustices. Though these circumstances exist, I believe we add to the mass consciousness and manifestation of trauma and injustice by focusing on it. I’d rather lead people in kindness, compassion, and thoughtful words. I’d rather lead people in a way of being healthy that honors Spirit living within us. I’d rather lead people who choose to learn how to live because they resonate with a higher vibration. You might say I’m leading a movement for BE-ing in a way that supports our natural world while we occupy it.

Things bother me, too. I’m bothered by the amount of plastics and toxicity, and take steps within my personal space to reduce using them, and to detoxify my body daily. I wish my brother didn’t have neuropathy, or that his wife didn’t have to endure a long, slow demise from cancer. I struggle with some personal relationships in which I know there’s a widening gap. Yet through it all, I continue with Reiki as a tool for enlightenment and possibilities that I can’t yet understand with my human brain.

We’re all on a journey of self-discovery that we hope leads to prosperity, abundance, joy, and the manifestation of Goodness in our lives. As a leader, I see myself setting an example, teaching classes, having productive conversations, and simply offering insight offered to me as a humble conduit from Source. Reiki may be one of the most beneficial classes you’ll ever take for enlightenment, empowerment, peace, and self-healing.

Reiki classes are offered monthly. I hope you can join us.

Usui Reiki 1 & 2 Together

Reiki, the Japanese method of healing and relaxation, has been present in its current form for many years. Yet, energy healing modalities are not limited to Reiki. There is, in fact, no limit to the possibilities of accessing Reiki energy as a healing modality. The limits I have found in working with Reiki for many years can be summarized with three vital points:

  1. Delay in action – Students who become attuned to Reiki level 1 sometimes become “stalled” in their progress. Life happens. People move away, have a shortage of funds, find no time, or any number of reasons to delay continuing their practice. After a while, the first Reiki attunement seems too far away to continue practicing.
  2. Lack of training – One of the most important aspects of learning Reiki is to actually find the time to practice it. Yet, some students lack proper training on energy techniques that promote confidence and competence.
  3. Lack of community support – Receiving a Reiki attunement is wonderful, but it’s just the beginning. Once the energy door is opened, it’s important to connect with like-minded people. We’re not alone, yet sometimes our awakening makes us feel separate, different, and maybe a little strange.
  4. Lack of developing sensitivity – In order to make Reiki easier to teach and use, early Reiki teachers developed a system of hand positions that offered good results. However, Usui initially intended for Reiki hand placements to be intuitive and encouraged the use of Byosen scanning as well as other intuitive techniques.

As a result, our Reiki classes take the best of all Reiki trainings. We focus on combining the Reiki experiences of Reiki 1 & 2 together into a full weekend class. There’s no waiting to continue your training.

Seamlessly, we weave together the energy concepts of Reiki fundamentals with exercises that promote confidence and competence. You’ll receive more than an attunement. You’ll have training on how to use Reiki immediately and integrate Reiki into daily practice. Reiki is a lifestyle. We’ll show you how it’s done, effortlessly.

Our Reiki community extends in many ways. We have a secret facebook group for Reiki students and continuing education experiences and workshops that help connect you to a greater grid – humanity.

We focus on the intuitive nature of Reiki. In fact, it’s a priority. We know that your awakening is happening, and you want to get started in the best possible way. We have tools to support you on your journey – The Healer’s Journey free webinar, Sensory Intuition Workshops, sound healing classes, and our own unique advanced training for Illuminated Healers.

Why do we teach Reiki 1 & 2 classes together? You’re ready for it. The world needs you. Step into your power as an intuitive healer. Check our calendar for the next available classes.

Messages From Spirit

Sometimes you feel like you’re just not “getting” it. You might be so involved in your family, work, circumstances, that you feel like you have little time to just BE. In addition, it feels like you’re asking for help – or maybe a “sign” – but nothing’s happening.

Are your wires crossed?

Learn more about messages from Spirit. What do these messages look like or feel like? How do you know if something you’re receiving is really a “message”?

About Second Nature Healing

The story of how Second Nature Healing began, as told by Rosemary:

Second Nature Healing evolved out of a love of nature and a deep connection to animals. It was actually because of my dog, Ginger, that the first edition of a website became a reality, appearing as “Rosemary’s Solutions” in 2006. This initial website chronicled Ginger’s story as it was written during her health crisis (hemangiosarcoma), and her subsequent miraculous healing and recovery – a story so significant and unusual that it had to be told (her story also became the basis of my first book, Heal Together).

Those early days when Ginger stayed close by my side, I could hardly believe what I witnessed, even though I was intimately involved with every aspect of Ginger’s presence. As I continued a protocol I developed intuitively, with some gratefully received help from a dear friend (who introduced me to zeolite), I felt I was on a new path, catapulted into a realm of natural healing that required more of me than I thought it was possible to give. My skills as teacher combined effortlessly with a desire to incorporate natural healing modalities. However, marketing myself was not on my radar. My connection with the world of helping people I never met came from a love of animals.

Currently, I employ no one. I might be the ultimate DIY-er . . . which brings me to a foundation philosophy that motivates me every day. We are perfect and whole spiritual beings. We are responsible for our own thoughts, our own happiness, our own health, prosperity, relationships, and BE-ing. The body knows how to heal, and does so with very little effort. The body – the perfect Do-it-Yourself state of being – is an extension of God’s heart. Our acceptance of wholeness gives us the idea that healing is Second Nature. However, we’re also given choices, knowledge, tools and information to help us manifest our greatest outcome. We ignore these pieces of existence, not at our peril, but as a part of our journey.

Over the years I’ve relied heavily on my intuition, trusting my instincts as well as my training as a scientist and teacher. As my awareness grew, so did my practice. At Second Nature Healing I now utilize energy healing techniques such as Reiki and Vibrational Sound therapy. I also have added several products to my personal protocol over the years that I believe support aspects of healing that might otherwise take longer. It’s so much easier to allow the body to heal if toxins have been removed, for example. Detoxification has become one of my high priority tools. I hope it becomes one of yours, too.

As I continue to grow, so has Second Nature Healing and the reach we have world-wide to connect people to real solutions beyond the narrow field of conventional medical practices (cut, burn, drug, and basically treat the symptoms rather than the whole). There are always options, and I hope I’m helping to provide a greater awareness for people who are searching for answers.

I’m more than delighted that working with my daughter, Michelle Hawk, has also evolved into a special advanced Shamanic Reiki program called Illumination Reiki. I actually secured that domain many years ago, before I understood why, or what it would become. It’s still growing – as am I. I invite you to connect with me. Drop me an email if you feel called to do so, or join me weekly on The Healer’s Journey free webinar. Maybe our journeys will intersect. I hope so.

Many blessings,

Rosemary Levesque
