How Important is Detox?

I heard an interesting statement recently from a well-respected naturopathic doctor in my sphere. He said it’s pointless to begin any course of treatment before detoxification is accomplished. That’s my philosophy, too, and has been for many years. heavy metals, flame retardants, plastics, pesticides, benzene, and chemicals in the home and environment interfere with every aspect of cell function, injury repair, immunity, and general wellbeing. Removing these toxins, then, are critical to supporting the health and vitality of the body for healing.

Since 2006 I’ve actively used a mineral as an oral chelator, which has not only proven to be effective, but also life-saving! I don’t say this lightly. The year 2006 brought many challenges for me. My beautiful yellow lab, Ginger, who was also diabetic, was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma – a blood cancer. We almost lost her the day her spleen ruptured. However, we acted quickly and following surgery worked aggressively to detoxify her and get ahead of her symptoms. Without the surgery, we would have surely lost her. However, given no hope from the medical professionals, we chose to follow a detoxification protocol while supporting her immune system. It worked, and we enjoyed Ginger’s company (without cancer) for a long time after that.

In Ginger’s case, detoxification set the foundation for healthy cells to take over. That was in 2006. Now, more than ten years later, it’s still the beginning protocol I use for myself as well as my clients. In addition, please note that though I’m calling what I do a protocol, it’s really a lifestyle. Choosing to incorporate detoxification and immune support every day means that we may never have to face difficult disease challenges such as cancer. Now, I’m greatly encouraged with additional healing resources that aid in detoxification and immune support. Here are a few Nutritional Supplements I use regularly:

Zeolite, very specifically Natural Cellular Defense, is my number one choice. Heavy metals are severely overlooked as a cause of everything from cancer to auto-immune diseases. NCD2 is the best detoxifier for inorganic substances such as heavy metals and radiation.

Vital minerals in crystalloid form (the tiniest), have a profound detoxification effect. These minerals (available for both humans and canines from Valentus as Prevail Max) seep into the bloodstream in less than a minute when sprayed directly into the mouth. The effects can be seen microscopically almost immediately as blood cells “plump” and begin to make circulation more effective. It’s a superior detoxifier and an essential addition to a zeolite detox.

Essential Oils, again – very specifically – Young Living oils, complete the detoxification profile. Use specific citrus oils, for example, to help cleanse the blood and liver. Select Multigreens for the additional detoxification effects of chlorophyll combined with essential oils.

Cancer Detox Protocol for Humans and Dogs

  • Detoxification, as I mentioned earlier, may be the most overlooked aspect of a healing protocol – one that is really a lifestyle of health and wellness. Though supplements I use are great for detoxification, it’s more than just removing toxins that has to be considered. Look for ways to eliminate toxins from the diet, home environment, products you use regularly, vaccinations, and other medications and treatments.
  • Support a healthy body with whole, clean, minimally processed foods. Eliminate carbohydrates, preservatives, and synthetic additives.
  • Detoxify the emotions. Have a positive environment and outlook on healing. Remove emotional obstacles that prevent optimal results.

Spiritual Leadership with Reiki

I was asked recently what it means to be a leader. As a spiritual leader, Reiki Master, Shaman, and a spiritual healer, I have little time to ponder leadership, except to say that “I Am”. From the perspective of a person in business, self-employed, teaching Reiki classes and doing private sessions, it really is important to have a handle on technology. I update my own websites (yes, I have more than one), write my own blog articles, and research and invest in supplements and products my clients need for healing and recovery. For example, I now carry InLight Medical infrared light pads after researching and using light therapy pads for approximately two years.

Returning to the concept of leadership, I like to go back to the fundamentals of Reiki and shamanism. These fundamentals set the framework for everything else I do. Before even getting out of bed, I activate my palms with Reiki symbols and balance my chakras with Reiki and a short meditation. At the start of my day, my shower includes a blessing of water flowing over me with intentions of washing away what no longer serves me. I anoint myself with essential oils on my feet holding intentions of receiving (on the left foot) and offering (on the right foot) in a ritualistic fashion. My morning continues with blessing my food and watering my plants (also with a blessing). Reading the comics is a priority over news. Walking the dog is a priority over work. Silence is a priority over music and television.

You may ask how these fundamentals make me a leader. It really depends on who and what you’re leading – and not leading. I’m not leading any fights, wars, or injustices. Though these circumstances exist, I believe we add to the mass consciousness and manifestation of trauma and injustice by focusing on it. I’d rather lead people in kindness, compassion, and thoughtful words. I’d rather lead people in a way of being healthy that honors Spirit living within us. I’d rather lead people who choose to learn how to live because they resonate with a higher vibration. You might say I’m leading a movement for BE-ing in a way that supports our natural world while we occupy it.

Things bother me, too. I’m bothered by the amount of plastics and toxicity, and take steps within my personal space to reduce using them, and to detoxify my body daily. I wish my brother didn’t have neuropathy, or that his wife didn’t have to endure a long, slow demise from cancer. I struggle with some personal relationships in which I know there’s a widening gap. Yet through it all, I continue with Reiki as a tool for enlightenment and possibilities that I can’t yet understand with my human brain.

We’re all on a journey of self-discovery that we hope leads to prosperity, abundance, joy, and the manifestation of Goodness in our lives. As a leader, I see myself setting an example, teaching classes, having productive conversations, and simply offering insight offered to me as a humble conduit from Source. Reiki may be one of the most beneficial classes you’ll ever take for enlightenment, empowerment, peace, and self-healing.

Reiki classes are offered monthly. I hope you can join us.

Emergency Kit for Lightworkers

Though safe travel involves careful planning, little things may come up that require your attention. As a Lightworker – energy healer – you’re already utilizing your gifts and talents to clear space, keep yourself grounded and protected in large groups, and ensure a restful sleep in a strange environment, right? However, if you want to select a few extra tools for your basic emergency kit, I’d like to suggest these as wonderful options to support you and your family as you travel.

Lightworker Care For Pets:

Essential oils* (see below) are a natural option to help in many situations that come up while on vacation.

  • To help protect from fleas and ticks I used Purification on Gracie before going outside in the tall grasses of Central Oregon. Rub one or two drops into your palms and apply by rubbing all over legs, neck, tail, belly, and back. If you have single essential oils, try Tea tree, citronella, or lavender. If a bite or wound does occur, lavender can be applied directly to the skin.
  • Lemon essential oil came in handy when Gracie sat in pine pitch. Instead of cutting away her beautiful fur, or pulling out the pine needles, I applied lemon essential oil directly to the pine pitch and rubbed her fur gently until the pitch was dissolved and her fur was clean.
  • Over-doing the exercise? Muscle aches and joint discomfort can be alleviated with a mix of Raindrop essential oils. (This is a great opportunity to combine your energy healing work – Reiki – with essential oils). Use your customized Raindrop mix along the spine. Also try PanAway directly to sore areas, for example shoulders, and add Copaiba essential oil (high in beta-caryophyllene which is a CBD – cannabinoid compound naturally found in the copaiba tree resin). Copaiba essential oil from Young Living is more than 50% β-caryophyllene.

Tuning forks (sound healing) are surprisingly easy to include in your Lightworker’s emergency kit. I selected these tuning forks and had the occasion to use them several times:

  • OM tuners – after activating the fork, use the stem to apply to trigger points or sore areas. The vibration of OM travels deep into the body, bringing nitric oxide produced by the cells into the bloodstream. (learn more about nitric oxide from my previous article) I used two OM tuners on Bruno, my son’s dog after he had a vigorous time chasing the ball. Oils are applied first along the spine and sore areas. Then use the OM tuners in the same areas.
  • Crystal tuner – with a vibration of 4096 Hz, this small friend to Lightworkers has many uses. Since animals may be sensitive to sound, it’s likely your animal is also sensitive to the energies of previous inhabitants. Use the crystal tuner gently in spaces around the accommodations to clear unwanted energies. Energize food and water by tapping the crystal tuner to a quartz crystal, and sounding over your meal.

Lightworker Care For People:

Of course, all of the above mentioned essential oils and techniques can be used for humans. In addition, see how I enhanced my experiences on vacation. Essential oils are a favorite tool for me. Here are a few ideas for you to include in your energy self-care:

  • Vetiver essential oil is great as a scent and for feeling grounded in large crowds. It’s very thick, loaded with sesquiterpenes that last a long time in your body.
  • Anoint your feet with a drop of ImmuPower blend or frankincense mixed with a dab of shea butter or your favorite lotion. I love ImmuPower essential oil. It feels like the Divine in a bottle to me. While you’re anointing your feet, take the opportunity to state your intentions for the day.
  • Sunburn heals faster when properly cared for. Avoid ingesting citrus essential oils before exposure to sun. Sun exposure that leads to reddened skin can be soothed by lavender and myrrh essential oil mixed with an oil carrier high in antioxidants such as rosehip oil or marula oil. Add a dab of deep penetrating face cream with hyaluronic acid as an assistant to skin care healing. Always avoid additives that aren’t natural (like propylene glycol).
  • Stay clean when using public restrooms. Use a drop of Thieves essential oil to help sanitize, or make a spritzer with water and Thieves oil blend. Have a bottle in the car for easy access while traveling.
  • Sleep easier in a strange environment with your custom blend of essential oils. Try lavender, valerian, frankincense, Ruta, vetiver, and the flower of your choice (geranium, rose, chamomile,  or ylang ylang). Diffuse in the air, spritz, or apply to your feet for easy sleep and renewal.

Self-care may be one of the most important components of your Lightworker’s Emergency kit. Be sure to take time daily for meditative moments, and connecting to nature. If you need more ideas or would like to order products, please ask! I’d love to hear from you.

Purification

During a recent Reiki class here at my healing center in Portland, we prepared for the weekend as we always do – setting an intention for self and others – then drawing a card from a well-loved deck of oracle cards. One card that came up was called Purification, and the messages it brought seemed to ring true for not only the student who chose it, but for everyone throughout the weekend. Why might that happen? Is there some significance about purification that matters enough to keep “speaking” to us over the course of two days?

Purification is defined as the removal of something (a toxin, an element, an entity, for example) from a person’s physical body, the environment, or from any substance to contain compounds or constituents that are not a part of the WHOLE. Spiritually speaking, purification may involve releasing more than removing. The difference comes from self-instituted intentions for empowerment. What needs cleansing?

Self

Just as with healing, the first part of cleansing always begins with SELF. What would you cleanse for yourself? We care for the physical body with daily washing – showering, hand washing, etc. – on the outside. However, cleansing on the inside is of utmost importance. Consider foods, choosing raw and unprocessed as much as possible over processed. Consider personal care products, choosing clean and natural over synthetic ones filled with chemical additives. Consider filtered water over tap or bottled water. Consider antioxidants and natural supplements (minerals, herbs, zeolite) over sugars and hydrogenated fats.

Environment

Your personal space should be considered next in the purification process. What have you accumulated as “stuff” over the years that no longer serve you? What’s in your space that really isn’t yours? Do you have a process in place that ensures optimal support for your clean, pure self? Consider the chemicals you choose for cleaning in your home. Are they natural essential oils or synthetic chemicals and toxic poisons? Are you using plastic containers, a microwave oven, non-stick cookware with PFOAs? Having a clean, toxin-free environment is part of the purification process. However, also consider sound, light, and people as part of the environment. How can you improve and purify in these areas?

Intention

As a part of Reiki training, I offers several methods of purification to assist in holding the energy for safe and sacred space, and to help clear unwanted energies from the etheric field as well as from our sacred spaces. Intention is a powerful tool to use for purification. Formulate how you would intend for your space to be clear of unwanted energies. Design a statement that represents what you really want. If this seems daunting, confusing, or overwhelming, start with a simple awareness of how you feel in any particular space or situation. Notice how you’d prefer to feel and go with words that support that feeling. For example, you might use words like, “I feel safe.”

Purification Tools

I’ve made a short list here of tools you can use for cleansing. Remember that these tools are intended more for empowerment as you go through the process of purification. They help you release, letting go of energies that no longer support your purity, wholeness, and manifestation of the highest expression of yourself.

Essential Oils

Plant medicine may be the easiest to use and the easiest to obtain. Use plants in their “original” form as leaves, roots, stems, and flowers. However, using pure therapeutic grade essential oils from Young Living may be even more potent (and more valuable) for your needs. Whether in meditation, ceremony, or cleansing your environment, these essential oils work magically to bring about a feeling of wholeness and purity. Here are a few I like for sacred ceremony and purification. Use them in a diffuser, spritzer, or apply a drop directly to hands, gently rub in and inhale.

Sound Vibrations

Sound frequencies, whether using your own voice (as in chanting, singing, or toning) or selecting an instrument of sound such as a tuning fork or drum, provide many benefits for purification. Try, for example, a higher frequency of 4096 Hz to call in the angelic realm, or the frequency of OM to feel more grounded and connected to earth energy.

tuning forks

  • Angel – 4096 Hz
  • OM – 136.1 Hz
  • Solfeggio 528 – Magic and Transformation
  • Chanting, toning
  • Drum
  • Rattle

Love Potions and Essential Oils for Emotional Health

SNHpodsqEmotional health deeply effects the heart, one of the most vital organs in the body. Yet, heart health, in general, may be misunderstood. As medicine tries to “fix” heart issues, we can take a closer look at the emotional state of one’s being and know that our emotions, thoughts, perceptions, and responses can override physical health – either in a positive or negative way.

Essential oils have long been known to work with emotions and memories stored in our cells. Specific scents can call to mind experiences that can be physically felt – joy, relaxation, and calm, and even excitement, inspiration, and openness. Essential oils, the “life blood” of plants in their purist form, can facilitate emotional changes that you can personally use to promote your own health and healing.

The following information is inspired by using a book I like as a resource, The Healing Intelligence of Essential Oils by Kurt Schnaubelt. Specific parts of plants carry specific energies. Here are a few examples. (note – oils in italics are in the Premier Starter Kit – see below)healing intelligence of essential oils

Recipe for Self Care

Recipe for Self CareWho loves recipes? Especially now, when alternative care can be a DIY (do it yourself) activity, recipes for self care help keep you going.

Here are a few basics to get you started:

Recipe for Morning Self Care

  • 3 Deep Breaths  ~ add your favorite essential oil for grounding, like vetiver or frankincense.
  • 1 Tall Glass of Water ~ be sure to hydrate with filtered water. Add your favorite citrus essential oil, like lemon or orange directly to your glass, then pour in the water. Ahhh!
  • Gently stretch your arms and legs, wiggle your toes, and tilt your head to bring oxygen into sleepy muscles. Try massaging a soothing essential oil blend like PanAway to relieve any discomforts and allow a deeper stretch.

Recipe for Afternoon Self Care

  • Avoid the mid-afternoon munchies and help curb your appetite with essential oils like our Slique Essence blend. It has ocotea from the cinnamon family, known to help with blood sugar ratios.
  • Take a few minutes to step outside every hour. Not only does fresh air revitalize your energy, but it helps to bring more joy to your routine.
  • Feeling overwhelmed by stress? It’s important to actively detoxify your physical body as well as your environment. Try our liquid zeolite to remove heavy metals. Diffuse Stress Away essential oil blend to bring on a sense of calm.

Recipe for Evening Self Care

  • Choose foods that are nourishing without the added bulk of empty calories. Try green vegetables seasoned with any of our Vitality essential oils, like black pepper, oregano, or jade lemon.
  • Soak your feet in epsom salts to improve circulation and relaxation. Try mixing lavender essential oil to the salts before adding water. Then use lavender essential oil directly on your feet before bed for a restful sleep.
  • Make sure your room is dark, without added electronics nearby casting a glow. You need your dark sleep to replenish serotonin for energy the next day.
